A very nice, not really Jabber-specific quote from the paper:

Both the transport and presence portions of XMPP are very easy to understand, explain, and program against, like the most successful Internet protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, and POP3.

Now why does this quote, when thinking about SOAP, make me sad?
